A noticeable change in weather conditions has swept through various parts of Bengal, including the metropolitan area of Kolkata. The Meteorological Department's regional headquarters in Alipore released a statement highlighting a significant increase in temperature, with a rise of at least five degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. The minimum temperature in Kolkata recorded at 20.6 degrees Celsius is notably five degrees higher than the normal range, while the maximum temperature of 26.9 degrees Celsius exceeds the usual by one degree.
Other regions such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Malda, Murshidabad experienced a temperature surge from 12 to 13 degrees Celsius to around 20 degrees Celsius. Even in North Bengal areas like Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong, a slight increase in temperature has been recorded. The Meteorological Department predicts the likelihood of light rain across the state in the next 24 to 48 hours, providing relief from dense fog and cold.
